Photos from Hampshire + Chichester

Hello everyone! As mentioned in our previous blog, Fat Fairy Jewellery has been off on their travels.  As usual, my camera was one of the first things packed and we'd love to share some photos of one of our favourite places 'down south' - Emsworth Harbour and also the lovely Chichester Catherdral.  We particularly like the one of Judy, our little Jack Russell taking the last of the summer sun at Emsworth - as Judy used to belong to my late Mum who also loved Emsworth, it felt very right to take Judy for a walk around the harbour wall!

Hope you enjoy the photo's of our travels - which did involve buying a few beads + buttons....!

with love from Fat Fairy Jewellery and the Jack Russell! xx

It's been a very hot day - almost too hot to make jewellery.......

Good evening all from what has been a very hot + humid day here in Warwickshire!  Now trying to rain....so I guess that really is summer over and done with.
Fat Fairy Jewellery has had a busy couple of weeks since our last post as Debbie + I managed a long weekend back down in Hampshire where we used to live.  It was lovely to be able to catch up with friends and Debbie + Paul's Godparents.  Found a lovely B+B in Emsworth which accepted dogs, so that meant we could take Judy - our elderly Jack Russell with us.  If you are ever down that way we can well recommend the Miller's House (www.millershouse.co.uk).  Also managed a quick trip into Chichester which is another favourite place!
Have also been busy making jewellery for friends - posting photos of some lovely brooches I made and also a pair of lovely Rose Quartz ear-rings which were a birthday present for a friend. Attended the Beadelicous Bead Soiree at Bulkington yesterday which was great fun (www.beadelicious-beads.co.uk) and made a necklace, bracelet + pair of ear-rings!  Have 3 craft fairs/indulgence evenings in the diary over the next month, so really need to get working on increasing our stock.  The good news is that our website is very nearly ready to go live - very exicted about that....!
Even managed a baking session this week as we supported the MacMillan Cancer Care Biggest Coffee Morning at work on Friday and I made some Rocky Road, Chocolate Brownies and a Fruit Cake....!  Now wonder I'm feeling just a little bit tired tonight......

Hope you like the photo's!

Wednesday 21 September 2011

Good morning everyone!  I can't believe how long it is since our last post and can only apologise.  Not quite sure where August went - apart from the fact it was a very busy month!  It saw the first visit home of my son and his fiancee's puppy - Ruby who is adorable.  We managed to introduce her to our very elderly Jack Russell and they rubbed noses before barking at each other!
That same weekend saw Debbie and I attend the blessing of Louisa and Paul Crook (Louisa runs Beadelicious Beads and the workshops that I attend - can well recommend them!).  They had got married down in Devon earlier but because some family members couldn't make the journey, they decided to have a blessing here at home - what a lovely afternoon and Louisa's Mum made the most wonderful cup cakes.  Posting 2 photos below as proof!
Also posting a photo of the necklace I made to wear to the wedding with beads from Beadelicous Beads and also a necklace made at one of Louisa's workshops - have worn this many times now and it's got lots of comments.    Also celebrated my birthday which was lovely as Debbie took me out for lunch at Hilltop Farm on the Fosse Way at Hunningham.
Thats all for now folks but will try and post again very soon - hope you enjoy the photos! love from Fat Fairy Jewellery xx

Sunday night already......

Hello everyone,

Happy August to one and all!  August is one of my favourite times - probably because it also happens to be my birthday month and the last Bank Holiday before the one at the end of the year..... This weekend has gone by so quickly but wanted to give you all a very quick blog update before I head off to bed!  Had a busy few weeks and a major decision made was to get some help with our website and now have a lovely lady doing some great work for us and hopefully very soon our website will be ready for the world to see!  In the meantime, it has given us some much needed free time to devote our time + energy to making more jewellery!  Had a lovely day out yesterday with my dear friend Gill over at Coton Manor Gardens in Northamptonshire - if you are ever nearby it is very worth a visit (see www.cotomanor.co.uk for further details) their flower borders are stunning.  I know they are not jewellery designs but I'm going to try and load a couple of my photos up anyway as I just love these gardens and Gill was pretty impressed too!

Latest update from Fat Fairy Land......

Hello everyone!

I started writing this update two weeks ago with an apology for the delay in updating our blog and then was promptly laid low with a very nasty bug that was 'doing the rounds'.  It certainly knocked me for six and I don't want to see it again for some time - thank you very much!  It also played havoc with the new migraine tablets my GP had put me on - which I was only saying to my GP seemed to be working.... am still keeping my fingers crossed and will report back later on!

Anyway, onto more important matters - our jewellery!  I was very touched when my dear friend Melanie - now the Reverend Melanie Sopp, asked me to make the jewellery for her ordination as an Interfaith Minister on Saturday 16th July.  The ceremony took place down in Notting Hill following a retreat in Somerset.  I actually made 4 necklaces for Melanie to choose from and the one worn on the day was a very simple but stunning necklace made from Swarovski pearls and crystals - there are times when only Swarovski will do!  I will try and upload a couple of photos below - and they have decided to load above - hey ho...!  Hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I loved making them xx

Good evening from Fat Fairy Jewellery.....

Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if that shouldn't actually read 'Good night' everyone as I've just seen the time.....!  Realised that we've not posted a blog this week - mainly due to the fact I can't believe where this week has gone to - or that we are half-way through June.....
Someone asked me this week how our name came about, so I thought over the weekend I'd blog and let you all know how and why we decided on 'Fat Fairy Jewellery'.....
So until then...... I'll say 'Good night world'... xx

Saturday 11 June 2011

Hello everyone,
We've been busy here at Fat Fairy Jewellery working on our website this week and thought you might like to see a few photos of some jewellery we've made previously to give you an idea of what we make.
Most of the items here were made for special occassions - weddings, holidays etc and made for either family, friends, ourselves or to give as presents.  The top necklace is made using a gorgeous Turquoise 'donut' to which buttons and various beads have been added. The matching wraparound bracelet is one of my personal favourite and one that I wear often. The matching heart ear-rings always get lots of comments!

This beautiful purple set was made to match my dress for a close friend's wedding last September and is made with gorgeous purple glass pearls and my very favourite Swarovski crystals!

The freshwater pearl ear-rings below are another favourite as they go with lots of things.  They are made with pale ivory and coffee coloured freshwater pearls tiny black seed beads which really set of the pale colours of the pearls,   Please leave us any comments as we'd love to hear from you.

p.s. have amended this blog as I realised the font was too small to read!

Sunday 5 June 2011

Hello everyone,

Fat Fairy Jewellery has just returned from a lovely Sunday lunch down in the Cotswolds.  Now working on some more jewellery for our website!  We are going to try and post a blog about 3 times a week at first - just to keep everyone updated on the progress of the website.  Having seen how green and lush the beautiful Cotswolds countryside is looking, we are feeling very inspired tonight!

The very first post from Fat Fairy Jewellery.........

Hello world and a warm welcome to our first Blog!

Even though our website is still under construction, we thought we'd like to Blog and just say hi to everyone.  Hopefully we will soon have some fans who will follow our progress to the completion and launch of http://www.fatfairyjewellery.com/.  It's taking much longer than we thought and a lot more time but we've been told the end result will be worth it!

We are a family business based in the beautiful Warwickshire countryside and we love making jewellery using all kinds of beads (and boy, there are a lot of them out there to choose from...), buttons (our newest favourite) but our real love is gemstones and, of course, Swarovski crystals (who couldn't love them when they just sparkle so much?).

We take our inspiration from all sorts of places and things.  Having just returned from Cornwall, we're now loving Turquoise gemstones as they remind us of the sea - along with the gorgeous blues and greens of the Swarovski crystals.  The beautiful greens of the trees in our local park is making us think of using some Jade + Malachite crystals - along with the beautiful Green Aventurine as well. And as it's a lovely sunny day here, the Citrine crystals spring to mind along with some lovely round yellow Jade beads we have sitting here in our bead stash which would look lovely teamed with some Swarovski crystals.

Well, thats probably about enough from Fat Fairy Jewellery for now for our very first blog - we have now inspired ourselves to go and make some more jewellery to put on our website!  Please feel free to leave us some comments - we'd love to hear from you!
