Happy New Year from Fat Fairy Jewellery.......

Hello everyone,

We can't believe our last post was in October...... Where has this year gone to? It seems to have really disappeared before our very eyes.......

Before it all goes mad, we just wanted to wish you all a very Happy New Year and all the very best for 2014.  We hope it's a happy, healthy + prosperous year for everyone.  We know that 2013 has been a very mixed year for people, some of our friends have lost loved ones and we always think of those people no longer with us at this time of year.  For us, it's our much loved + missed Mum + Nan plus lots of other family members who we love and miss each and every day.  And, of course, this year we also lost our little Jack Russell Judy who had belonged to my Mum and we also miss her as well.

November saw the first birthday of our adorable and very precious Lilly, again where has that year gone to? Only seems like yesterday I was blogging to say she had just been born.  She really is gorgeous - and I know each and every grandmother must think the same thing! Not walking yet but crawling very fast all over the place.  Lilly had lots of presents for her first birthday along with a birthday party at her other Nannie + Grandad's house.  Then just a few weeks later, more presents for Christmas, I bought her the Fisher Price 'First Tea Set' which comes complete with a talking teapot!  Not sure this won't drive her Mummy + Daddy mad in a few weeks time....... Plus I bought her 'Upsy Daisy' from the Night Garden which is one of her very favourite TV programmes!

We are posting a few of our photo's from Christmas - none of our beautiful Lilly unfortunately but a couple of her Christmas blanket that I crocheted for her - I am really pleased with it as it's the first time I'd done the shell edging which really finished it off nicely (see photo no 3)

Plus a few photo's from the orders we completed for Christmas, so to those people who opened a piece of our jewellery on Christmas morning, we hope you love it as much as we loved creating it for you!

HAPPY NEW YEAR..... with love from us here at Fat Fairy Jewellery xx

Update on Artisan Handmade Craft Market

Morning folks,
Well, I can't believe it's been a week since we last blogged and what a busy week it's been!
At the end of last week, we paid a flying visit up to Preston to see my son, his partner and, of course, our very adorable and precious Lilly! Can you believe Lilly will be a year at the end of next month - where has that time gone too?  It was very much a 'flying visit' mainly because I was booked on a holistic course on the Saturday, so had to be back home but also because they are moving house this Thursday, so fingers crossed that it's a nice dry day up in Preston tomorrow!
And, we've been very busy putting the final touches to our very own Artisan Handmade Craft Market this coming Sunday!  Just in case you missed our last Blog details below of where to find us on Sunday:-
The Rugby Hotel
Sheep Street
RUGBY
Warwickshire
CV21 3BX
Free admission
11am till 2pm
We have a lovely variety of stalls including (obviously) our very own Fat Fairy Jewellery, Miss K's Krafts, Harkers Homemade Fudge, Little Bundles (baby goods), Kazam Jewellery, Knitted + Crocheted Goods by Sarah, Textiles by Leanne, Homemade cards and other goods by Michelle, Amber Feng Shui Arts + hopefully Homemade Goods who make pickles, chutney and jams!
Really hope to see you there - please come and find me and say hello - or find my very lovely daughter Debbie who has been such a great help to me over the past 2wks!
Have a good day everyone - take care out there as it sounds very windy here in Warwickshire!

Artisan Handmade Craft Market

Good morning world from here at Fat Fairy H.Q.

Hope this finds you all well and having a good week? It looks (and feels) like winter has really arrived, yesterday here in Warwickshire we had the heavy rain and winds that the weathermen had forecast. They did say they'd travel up country from the south-west during the day but why do they always arrive just at lunchtime? I really needed to go out and got blown about!

Anyway enough of our great British favourite subject the weather and onto the reason for today's Blog - our very own Artisan Handmade Craft Market! It's being held here in Rugby at:-

The Rugby Hotel
Sheep Street, Rugby
CV21 3BX

Sunday 27th October 2013

We'd really love it if you could a) help us spread the word + b) come along and see us if you are local!

We've lots of leaflets out + about, it will be in this week and next week's Rugby Advertiser, on Stallfinder + lots of other websites and leaflets are now available from the venue and Mo's Fabrics here in Rugby. Trying to upload a copy of our leaflet - working on that one now!

What a week it's been......

Evening everyone and can only say thank goodness it's Thursday because that does mean tomorrow is Friday.....!
Hope you are all having a better week than I seem to be.  It started off on a bad foot with a nasty migraine last Sunday which just would not leave me and I ended up having to take Monday off sick as I just felt so washed out and could not even get out of bed - which is most unlike me!  They really do leave me feeling drained and tired - which seems daft in itself as I just have to go to bed when I get one and sleep but always feel tired for a couple of days afterwards.
Then, just as I was beginning to get back to normal (whatever normal is!), my PC at work decided it had had enough and packed up.  This meant our IT guys had to rebuild it and I was without it all day yesterday (Weds) - how on earth did we all become so dependant on computers?  Everything I went to do, needed the PC.  Even the filing was beginning to look tempting....
Today our weather here in Warwickshire seems to have turned into winter almost overnight.  As I type this tonight, it is very wild + windy outside and the wind is howling down the chimney.  Glad my daughter has just got home from a conference in Birmingham and very glad too that my son arrived safely back on UK soil today - thank you Etihad Airlines!
Well, what news do I have on the jewellery making front?  I'm busy making lots of pink jewellery as at my day job we will, once again, be supporting the 'Wear it Pink' to work day for Breast Cancer, so making a few new items to tempt people with.  What do you think - photo's below.....

But my biggest news is that, having got fed up with being turned down for various craft events because they already have too much jewellery, I have decided to host my own!!!  It's something I've thought about for some time and had discussed with a couple of my crafting friends, so I am now going for it (as they say!).
Details herewith and would be delighted if any of you could share the information around for me and if anyone is interested in having a stall, please do get in touch!

Feeling very excited about this and hoping that it may become a regular event.
That's all for now folks, will keep you updated on the Artisan Craft front but please just contact me if you'd like any further details,

What a lovely day we had ..... at the wedding!

Hello everyone,
Hope you've all had a happy + productive Sunday and managed to enjoy this glorious weather.  It has been an absolutely stunning day here in Warwickshire.  If you didn't know it was the end of September, you could almost think we were still in July.......!
It's been yet another busy weekend here at Fat Fairy Towers. Yesterday saw the car at the garage first thing, a quick breakfast in town in Nuneaton, then collected the car (thank you IVC Garage!) and then off to the Bead Soiree run by the lovely Louisa from Beadelicious Beads.Louisa was actually on her way home from holiday but we were left in the very capable hands of her 2nd in command - Michelle.  Had a lovely morning catching up with all the ladies and I made the project sheet of the day and then had some inspiration for a necklace (using the same dyed Agate slice as I used in the project) for a belated birthday pressie for a dear friend. Will post photo's once it's completed and delivered!
Then home to the hairdressers and then off to the gym..... Our new gym here in Rugby is lovely, run by a company called Better and they have extended the opening hours on a Saturday till 8pm,which is much better but obviously not many people realise this as we had the gym almost to ourselves!
Today has seen me at the local station waving goodbye to my daughter Debbie as she heads off 'up north' to stay with her sister-in-law and baby niece - our adorable Lilly!  Then I visited the bead fair in Dunchurch run by Sarah from Bead Supermarket.  They visit twice a year and always bring a lovely array of beads and findings with them.  Managed to spend quite a few pennies but as Sarah comes all the way up from Wales to be in Dunchurch, it seemed rude not to stock up..... (well that's my excuse anyway!).
As it was such a lovely afternoon, I also managed an hour in the garden cutting back the ivy which has gone mad - as only ivy can!  My neighbour then very kindly invited me in for a cup of tea and then, before you know it, it's time for dinner!
I just wanted to share a couple of photo's of the venue of last week's wedding.  Andy + Shirley had a church wedding (lovely service) and then their reception at Donnington Le Manor House in Leicestershire, which again was lovely.  Shirley had someone in to decorate the barn and they also did a lovely job!

The lovely archway which was decorated with not only flower and ribbons but twinkling fairy lights too!
Some of the lovely gardens, all the plants - including lots of herbs, were all labelled so you knew exactly what they were
Lots of tables outside with pretty umbrella's and as it was a nice day, lots of people did sit outside
And they keep bees - how fab is that!
One of the lovely table decorations - I was kindly given one to bring home and it's still going strong over a week later
Two pitchforks from some time ago with the lovely bunting too!
That's all for now folks,

At the end of a very busy week.....

A very good evening from Fat Fairy H.Q!
Well, at the end of yet another very busy week, I find myself home alone tonight! My daughter is out celebrating her very last day at her awful job and, without our little Judy here, the house is very quiet......
As I mentioned in my previous post, last Sunday saw us at our first wedding fair, we were a little disappointed at the very low turnout but, if nothing else, it proved one thing.  And that is what I've always said about any event - you need to advertise, advertise and then advertise it again.  With social media these days making things even easier - Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest etc etc, there really is no excuse.  Anyway, I do have some photo's of the day which I'll share in another time with you all.
Last weekend also saw the wedding of Andy + Shirley over Leicestershire. They got married in a lovely little parish church in Thornton and then had their reception in the barn at Donnington Le Manor House - another lovely day + some lovely photo's!
But I really wanted to share these photo's with you tonight, taken the weekend after my birthday when I spent the day with my dear friend Gill and we decided to visit Baddesley Clinton, which is a lovely National Trust property near to Solihull.  We had such a lovely day and were very lucky with the weather.  Like a lot of NT properties, it has lovely gardens and I just had to take a few photo's..... I felt very envious of their flower borders as you will see and also their kitchen garden - see if you can spy their very unusual helpers there!
The house itself, surrounded by a moat.....
Local resident ducks (there were lots of them!), these 2 look like they are on guard!
Gorgeous flower beds, full of marigolds and the topiary in the background!
Beautiful pots in a sunny spot with seats for a afternoon nap!
One of their beautiful flower borders - look at all the different colours, shapes and sizes!
Helping out in the kitchen garden...... he looks a bit stern!
What a beautiful and perfect flower!
What a gorgeous colour these flowers are!
Another visitor to these gardens - a beautiful butterfly!
More of their colourful + vibrant borders!
Another helper in the kitchen garden....!
And last but not least, these are a gorgeous splash of yellow.....
Well, I don't think I've ever shared so many photo's on one blog! Hope you enjoy these lovely photo's from Baddesley Clinton - it's well worth a visit if any of you are local to the Midlands. - http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/baddesleyclinton
Wishing you all a happy, peaceful + productive weekend,

Sunday morning at Fat Fairy H.Q.

Sunday morning greetings from Fat Fairy H.Q,
August turned into another busy month and it looks like September will follow suit.  September sees us taking part in our first Wedding Fair at The Arnold House here in Rugby.  It takes place next Sunday 22nd September and we'd love to see any brides to be there! We've been busy this weekend making more bridal jewellery to take along on the day but, as ever, we are more than happy to take commissions and as we only ever make one of any item, these would make your special day even more special (hope that makes sense!). We are also happy to make jewellery for the mums, grandma's and, of course, the bridesmaids! We've even had enquires for small items to go in Hen Party bags!
Anyway, those of you who may also follow us on Twitter and Facebook, will already know that August brought some sad news for us.  Just before the August Bank Holiday weekend, we had to take the heart-breaking decision to have Judy, our little Jack Russell put to sleep.  Those of you who know me, will also know that Judy belonged to my late Mum, so it was a double blow losing her as we also lost our last link with Mum.  Judy had struggled for a little while but suddenly it seemed that life was almost too much for her.  So I took her to see Hugh, our very lovely + kind vet and together we made the decision.  I'll always be grateful for the kindness, compassion and care he gave to Judy, right up until the last moment.  It goes without saying that we'll miss her forever but I'd love to share some of our favourite photo's of her - some taken not long after she came to live with us and a couple in our local park where we walked each + every day - one in the snow and one last summer (2012).

It was also the start of my birthday weekend, so both Debbie and I felt a bit low and lost but we were off to Preston for the weekend, so I could spend my first birthday as a Grandma with our gorgeous and very precious Lilly - there is nothing quite like a cuddle with our Lilly to lift your spirits!  It helped having the Ruby dog around too - she still needed her walkies!
Enjoy your Sunday everyone and, just in case she's reading this, a very Happy Birthday to my dear friend Jill!

Happy September....!

Hello again everyone,

Can't believe (yet again) where the last few weeks have gone since I last blogged.  Quite a bit has happened which I'll go into later but firstly let me wish you all a very Happy September!  Not quite sure where August disappeared to - or the rest of the year come to that.....

Secondly, I realised that I still hadn't got round to sharing some of my garden photo's with you - well my garden pots really.  I've been really pleased with them this year, especially the summer bedding plants I bought at one of our local garden centres out in Barby - which for those of you reading this who are not local, it's one of the villages just outside Rugby.  The petunia's in particular were such a bargain as they were on a BOGOF offer that weekend (and I do like a bargain....!).  One pot in particular has just flowered all summer long, as has the beautiful lilac colour ivy-leaf geranium bought from the same garden centre.  I'll certainly go back there again for some colour for the autumn - maybe pansies and viola's again as they are an all time favourite.

I've also finally had my little pond sorted out by my lovely gardener Danny and now just need to go and buy some fish - not many as it's only small and I just hope next door's cat won't think they are his dinner!

As I'm typing this, it's a beautiful day here in Warwickshire which is such a surprise after the weather forecast.  The sky is blue and the sun is out - and the washing is hanging on the line!  So, without further ado, here are the photo's!
Some of the beautiful petunia's - just love this purple!
I've a couple of these baskets and love this one full of trailing lobelia - it did also have a couple of petunia's in there too but they've got slightly hidden by this lobelia!
A lovely white New Guinea Busy Lizzie - this seems to like an awful lot of water but has been flowering well all summer!
The beautiful lilac ivy-leaf geranium with more trailing lobelia!
One of my many hosta's but the only one the slugs have not attacked!
One of my favourite pot's this year
And another pot full of petunias' - slightly different to the purple ones but, along with the red geranium, have flowered all summer long and are still going strong!

More later folks, enjoy your Sunday,

More holiday photo's......

Good morning everyone,
Firstly a happy Monday to all - had planned to update my Blog and post these photo's from the gorgeous Norfolk seaside town of Wells next the Sea, over the weekend.  But, due to a dear friend being in hospital, hospital visiting took precedence so here we are on Monday morning!
Last time I blogged I posted photo's from the beautiful village of Little Walsingham where we stayed and promised to post some more from our lovely few days over in Norfolk, so here they are. One bonus of being near to Wells was the discovery of a lovely crystal shop, so naturally, I couldn't resist bringing some of their tumblestones back with me..... will be wire-wrapping them at a later date!  Also another bonus was a gloriously warm day on the Friday so we spent some time on the beach and Lilly had her very first paddle and taste of ice-cream!
 The seafront
 Local boats!
 On the beach....
 What a lovely view!
 Local lifeboat standing by...!
And those crystals - aren't they gorgeous?
Hope you've enjoyed seeing my holiday photo's + all that leaves me to say is have a great day everyone!

Didn't we have a lovely time in Norfolk.......

Good evening everyone!
Well, I really can't believe that my last blog post was on the 2nd August which is nearly 2wks ago!  Where is the time going to (don't get me started on that one again!), before we know it the first 'you know what' cards will be appearing in our shops and it only seems 5mins since I was buying them last year.
Anyway, enough of my moaning and groaning I hear you say - and quite rightly too!  I realised that I still hadn't got round to sharing any photo's of my recent trip over to Norfolk with you.  What a beautiful county it is - I know some people don't like it because it's flat in parts but I think it has a charm all of it's own.  And the coast is lovely - so diverse.  We stayed in Little Walsingham where the shrine is and that is such a lovely, peaceful village with a thriving farm shop and a chocolate delicatessen (yes that's right a chocolate deli!). There were lovely walks around the village for Ruby, my son's dog and we were only a short drive from the coast at Wells next the Sea where I discovered a lovely crystal shop and bought home some crystals to hopefully wire-wrap at some point! I still can't share any photo's of my beautiful baby granddaughter, so you will have to be suffice with photo's of the local area and the beach!
 The local village
 The Shrine
 Church at the Shrine

Pretty archway + cottages on our dog walk!
Just in case anyone gets lost!
We didn't get a chance to try out the local railway but there's always next time!

And, last but not least, the Chocolate Deli!
As I seem to have gone a bit mad with photo's, I think I'll leave the ones of the beach at Wells till next time!
with love from Fat Fairy HQ,
