What a lovely day we had ..... at the wedding!

Hello everyone,
Hope you've all had a happy + productive Sunday and managed to enjoy this glorious weather.  It has been an absolutely stunning day here in Warwickshire.  If you didn't know it was the end of September, you could almost think we were still in July.......!
It's been yet another busy weekend here at Fat Fairy Towers. Yesterday saw the car at the garage first thing, a quick breakfast in town in Nuneaton, then collected the car (thank you IVC Garage!) and then off to the Bead Soiree run by the lovely Louisa from Beadelicious Beads.Louisa was actually on her way home from holiday but we were left in the very capable hands of her 2nd in command - Michelle.  Had a lovely morning catching up with all the ladies and I made the project sheet of the day and then had some inspiration for a necklace (using the same dyed Agate slice as I used in the project) for a belated birthday pressie for a dear friend. Will post photo's once it's completed and delivered!
Then home to the hairdressers and then off to the gym..... Our new gym here in Rugby is lovely, run by a company called Better and they have extended the opening hours on a Saturday till 8pm,which is much better but obviously not many people realise this as we had the gym almost to ourselves!
Today has seen me at the local station waving goodbye to my daughter Debbie as she heads off 'up north' to stay with her sister-in-law and baby niece - our adorable Lilly!  Then I visited the bead fair in Dunchurch run by Sarah from Bead Supermarket.  They visit twice a year and always bring a lovely array of beads and findings with them.  Managed to spend quite a few pennies but as Sarah comes all the way up from Wales to be in Dunchurch, it seemed rude not to stock up..... (well that's my excuse anyway!).
As it was such a lovely afternoon, I also managed an hour in the garden cutting back the ivy which has gone mad - as only ivy can!  My neighbour then very kindly invited me in for a cup of tea and then, before you know it, it's time for dinner!
I just wanted to share a couple of photo's of the venue of last week's wedding.  Andy + Shirley had a church wedding (lovely service) and then their reception at Donnington Le Manor House in Leicestershire, which again was lovely.  Shirley had someone in to decorate the barn and they also did a lovely job!

The lovely archway which was decorated with not only flower and ribbons but twinkling fairy lights too!
Some of the lovely gardens, all the plants - including lots of herbs, were all labelled so you knew exactly what they were
Lots of tables outside with pretty umbrella's and as it was a nice day, lots of people did sit outside
And they keep bees - how fab is that!
One of the lovely table decorations - I was kindly given one to bring home and it's still going strong over a week later
Two pitchforks from some time ago with the lovely bunting too!
That's all for now folks,

At the end of a very busy week.....

A very good evening from Fat Fairy H.Q!
Well, at the end of yet another very busy week, I find myself home alone tonight! My daughter is out celebrating her very last day at her awful job and, without our little Judy here, the house is very quiet......
As I mentioned in my previous post, last Sunday saw us at our first wedding fair, we were a little disappointed at the very low turnout but, if nothing else, it proved one thing.  And that is what I've always said about any event - you need to advertise, advertise and then advertise it again.  With social media these days making things even easier - Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest etc etc, there really is no excuse.  Anyway, I do have some photo's of the day which I'll share in another time with you all.
Last weekend also saw the wedding of Andy + Shirley over Leicestershire. They got married in a lovely little parish church in Thornton and then had their reception in the barn at Donnington Le Manor House - another lovely day + some lovely photo's!
But I really wanted to share these photo's with you tonight, taken the weekend after my birthday when I spent the day with my dear friend Gill and we decided to visit Baddesley Clinton, which is a lovely National Trust property near to Solihull.  We had such a lovely day and were very lucky with the weather.  Like a lot of NT properties, it has lovely gardens and I just had to take a few photo's..... I felt very envious of their flower borders as you will see and also their kitchen garden - see if you can spy their very unusual helpers there!
The house itself, surrounded by a moat.....
Local resident ducks (there were lots of them!), these 2 look like they are on guard!
Gorgeous flower beds, full of marigolds and the topiary in the background!
Beautiful pots in a sunny spot with seats for a afternoon nap!
One of their beautiful flower borders - look at all the different colours, shapes and sizes!
Helping out in the kitchen garden...... he looks a bit stern!
What a beautiful and perfect flower!
What a gorgeous colour these flowers are!
Another visitor to these gardens - a beautiful butterfly!
More of their colourful + vibrant borders!
Another helper in the kitchen garden....!
And last but not least, these are a gorgeous splash of yellow.....
Well, I don't think I've ever shared so many photo's on one blog! Hope you enjoy these lovely photo's from Baddesley Clinton - it's well worth a visit if any of you are local to the Midlands. - http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/baddesleyclinton
Wishing you all a happy, peaceful + productive weekend,

Sunday morning at Fat Fairy H.Q.

Sunday morning greetings from Fat Fairy H.Q,
August turned into another busy month and it looks like September will follow suit.  September sees us taking part in our first Wedding Fair at The Arnold House here in Rugby.  It takes place next Sunday 22nd September and we'd love to see any brides to be there! We've been busy this weekend making more bridal jewellery to take along on the day but, as ever, we are more than happy to take commissions and as we only ever make one of any item, these would make your special day even more special (hope that makes sense!). We are also happy to make jewellery for the mums, grandma's and, of course, the bridesmaids! We've even had enquires for small items to go in Hen Party bags!
Anyway, those of you who may also follow us on Twitter and Facebook, will already know that August brought some sad news for us.  Just before the August Bank Holiday weekend, we had to take the heart-breaking decision to have Judy, our little Jack Russell put to sleep.  Those of you who know me, will also know that Judy belonged to my late Mum, so it was a double blow losing her as we also lost our last link with Mum.  Judy had struggled for a little while but suddenly it seemed that life was almost too much for her.  So I took her to see Hugh, our very lovely + kind vet and together we made the decision.  I'll always be grateful for the kindness, compassion and care he gave to Judy, right up until the last moment.  It goes without saying that we'll miss her forever but I'd love to share some of our favourite photo's of her - some taken not long after she came to live with us and a couple in our local park where we walked each + every day - one in the snow and one last summer (2012).

It was also the start of my birthday weekend, so both Debbie and I felt a bit low and lost but we were off to Preston for the weekend, so I could spend my first birthday as a Grandma with our gorgeous and very precious Lilly - there is nothing quite like a cuddle with our Lilly to lift your spirits!  It helped having the Ruby dog around too - she still needed her walkies!
Enjoy your Sunday everyone and, just in case she's reading this, a very Happy Birthday to my dear friend Jill!

Happy September....!

Hello again everyone,

Can't believe (yet again) where the last few weeks have gone since I last blogged.  Quite a bit has happened which I'll go into later but firstly let me wish you all a very Happy September!  Not quite sure where August disappeared to - or the rest of the year come to that.....

Secondly, I realised that I still hadn't got round to sharing some of my garden photo's with you - well my garden pots really.  I've been really pleased with them this year, especially the summer bedding plants I bought at one of our local garden centres out in Barby - which for those of you reading this who are not local, it's one of the villages just outside Rugby.  The petunia's in particular were such a bargain as they were on a BOGOF offer that weekend (and I do like a bargain....!).  One pot in particular has just flowered all summer long, as has the beautiful lilac colour ivy-leaf geranium bought from the same garden centre.  I'll certainly go back there again for some colour for the autumn - maybe pansies and viola's again as they are an all time favourite.

I've also finally had my little pond sorted out by my lovely gardener Danny and now just need to go and buy some fish - not many as it's only small and I just hope next door's cat won't think they are his dinner!

As I'm typing this, it's a beautiful day here in Warwickshire which is such a surprise after the weather forecast.  The sky is blue and the sun is out - and the washing is hanging on the line!  So, without further ado, here are the photo's!
Some of the beautiful petunia's - just love this purple!
I've a couple of these baskets and love this one full of trailing lobelia - it did also have a couple of petunia's in there too but they've got slightly hidden by this lobelia!
A lovely white New Guinea Busy Lizzie - this seems to like an awful lot of water but has been flowering well all summer!
The beautiful lilac ivy-leaf geranium with more trailing lobelia!
One of my many hosta's but the only one the slugs have not attacked!
One of my favourite pot's this year
And another pot full of petunias' - slightly different to the purple ones but, along with the red geranium, have flowered all summer long and are still going strong!

More later folks, enjoy your Sunday,
with love from Fat Fairy Jewellery HQ
